Breaking Barriers: Path to the Bench

What we actually thought about this one

Talking to a judge was intimidating until about five minutes in. Judge Dedhia was direct about how long the road to the bench actually is and how much of it is unglamorous work in rooms nobody writes about. The part we keep thinking about is when she described how differently she prepares now that people's lives depend on her being fair rather than being right. That flipped something for us. We usually think of success as winning an argument, and she framed it as being the person everyone in the room trusts to be impartial. That's a much harder skill and nobody teaches it in school.
